Win a Complete Set of The Foodies Books!
December 6, 2013
December is the story of Apple and the Copycat. Apple sneaks out of the fruit storage shed to get some exercise and is amazed to find a little shell with an identical apple inside. She doesn’t realise the shell is a mirror and the apple is her reflection and gets very cross that the visitor won’t speak to her. But Big Apple explains what a reflection is and Apple then has a lot of fun watching her mirror image copying her every move.
As far as I’m concerned they’re the literary find of the decade for me and veggie enthusiastic ways! If I had any natural story writing capability then these are exactly the books I would be writing, so an enormous hats off to Joanne for her talent and drive to do it. The books not only inspire interest in British fruits and veggies and how and when they grow, but teach a different value throughout each from Caring to Humility to Friendship.
I met Joanne in person a couple of weeks ago after meeting on Twitter, as you do these days. A kindred veggie appreciator who happens to live pretty close to me here in rural Herefordshire. How funny’s that! She kindly gave me a series of her books to read to my children (minus the Courgette one that I’d coincidentally bought a couple of years ago) and I can hand on heart say J and F are totally enchanted by them. They’ve been the choice books at bed time, and after-school time, all week. And I’m now inundated with requests to make all the recipes! I’m planning on trying some out over the next few weeks, starting with the Sesame Seeds & Honey Roast Parsnips and the Cinnamon Pear Dumplings. Joanne also gave me an entire extra set of the her books to giveaway to one lucky readers, so please do enter my rafflecopter below to be in with a chance.
And if you fancy buying yourself a set or two as christmas presents Joanne’s running a half price offer throughout December for the complete set of The Foodies, and I’d say they’re a total bargain at a mere £10.00. For £12.00 you can even have them giftwrapped with a handwritten message and sent directly to a child.
Joanne also runs the fabulous Foodies site packed full of free foodie resources, ideas and reviews for parents, teachers or childcarers. It’s well worth signing up to her free newsletter of weekly inspirations too, or join her Little Foodies Club. And you can also follow The Foodies on Facebook or Twitter.
To enter the competition follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter widget below. Entry is by following Eat Your Veg and The Foodies on Facebook and/or Twitter. Bonus entries can be made by tweeting about the giveaway and/or leaving a comment in my comments box.
Closing Date: Tuesday 17th December. Open to UK entrants only. I shall try and post out in time for Christmas, but this will be at the mercy of the Post Office!
Disclaimer: I received a set of The Foodies Books to keep but was not required to write a positive review and any opinions expressed are my own. No monies exchanged hands.
